How to Dress Like a Harley Mama

How to Dress Like a Harley Mama

If you own a Harley Davidson or any kind of motorcycle for that matter, dressing like a Harley mama is part of the game. Owning good riding apparel is very important, not only to look the part, but it is imperative for safety reasons. Owning quality leather boots, pants, gloves, and a jacket does not have to cost a fortune either. These items do not need to be purchased brand new or brand name. Many quality items are to be had at online auctions. Here's how to dress like a Harley mama.

Purchase good quality leather boots for riding. The kind with a steel toe is a good idea. Sometimes it can be difficult to find a ladies steel toe boot. If that is the case, try eBay or Amazon and search for "ladies steel toe boot" or "women's steel toe harley" or simply type these phrases in the Google search bar.

Owning a good leather jacket is very important. If you are ever involved in a fender bender on a motorcycle, you do not want to be wearing short sleeves. Having your arms and torso covered in leather is really important. Again, try eBay or Amazon and search for "ladies harley jacket" or "ladies leather riding jacket".

Of course, under the jacket you can wear any cute tank top or shirt. Just make sure the jacket will be covering it when riding. Name brand Harley tanks can be found really cheap on eBay.

Who can forget the leather pants. Leather pants are not as important, but do add a lot of extra padding in case of an accident. If you are not hip to leather pants, try chaps over jeans instead. Of course, denim jeans work pretty well too especially on a hot riding day.

If you are a lady rider, you know that having long hair and riding a motorcycle can be a pain. If you fail to put your hair up, you will end up with a mangled, tangled, windblown mess. Leather ponytail holders are great for keeping your hair tangle-free.

Now for the makeup. My recommendation is to wear none. If you must, keep your makeup looking natural. Men prefer a natural looking woman as opposed to a woman who is too made up. Besides, who wants to worry about what their makeup looks like when riding a motorcycle on a hot summer day. Most of it would sweat off anyway!

Don't forget the helmet. I will admit, I need to take my own advice here. My state does not require a helmet to be worn and sometimes I forget mine and honestly sometimes it looks just down-right dorky to wear one. Seriously though, I would never recommend to anyone else that they not wear a helmet.
