How to Remove Harley Grips

Replacing the hand grips on a Harley-Davidson can not only enhance the motorcycle's appearance, but also relieve riders' hands from excessive vibration. Only a few tools are needed to accomplish the task, but the handlebar switch housing will need to be disassembled.

Things You'll Need

• Phillips screwdriver
• Razor blade

     Unscrew the bolts from the bottom of the right switch housing, using a Phillips screwdriver.

   • 2

     Pull the top and bottom halves of the right switch housing off the handlebar to expose the throttle grip's flange. Pull the throttle cable ferrules out of the catch on the throttle grip's flange.

     Slide the throttle grip to the right and off the handlebar.

   • 4

     Repeat steps 1-3 for the the left switch housing.

   • 5

     Slice the left grip lengthwise, using a razor blade, and peel the grip off the handlebar.
